Smart Shades: PowerView™ Motorization

We’ve told you about the benefits of motorized window treatments in Scottsdale, Arizona. Now we’re going to share a little bit more on how PowerView® motorization works. Perhaps the most impressive of all the automated systems, PowerView is easy, from installation to operation to maintenance.

Installing PowerView – When you install PowerView window treatments, small battery-operated motors are placed on each window treatment you want automated, hidden behind a headrail or valance. Depending on which way you choose to operate it, you will need a remote control, mobile device, or whole home automation system. But more on that later. In most cases there are no wires to be run through walls or hidden behind curtains. Professional Hunter Douglas installers will ensure they are hung and ready to be programmed before they go.

Programming PowerView – If you have the Pebble Remote, use the “program” button to add or remove certain shades, blinds or sheers to a group and to program your favorite settings. If you are using the Pebble Scene Controller or your tablet or cell phone to operate your window treatments, use the PowerView App available for iOS and Android to create your personalized settings. Hunter Douglas provides extensive videos and manuals if you get stuck while programming your PowerView.

PowerView Pebble® Remote - With the pebble remote, an unlimited number of window treatments can be assigned to a group designated by a number on the remote. Select the groups you want to adjust, then use the “open” and “close” buttons to raise or lower the shades and the side buttons to control the vanes. The “stop” button in the middle lets you stop a window treatment or group of window treatments at whatever position you want.

Pebble Scene Controller – Similar in size and shape to the Pebble Remote Control, this remote allows you to program different scenes and activate them with the touch of a button. Set the way you want your window treatments to be during breakfast, watching the game, or bedtime, and they will adjust to that scene.

PowerView on mobile devices – If you prefer doing everything on your cell phone or tablet, you can download the PowerView app and program your motorized window treatments to open, close, and tilt when you touch a button. It will even automatically adjust the light and privacy in your home when you aren’t there, based on your local sunrises and sunsets or your personal preferences.

Whole-house automation integration – If you already have parts of your home automated, PowerView is compatible with numerous whole-house systems, eliminating the need for additional devices.

PowerView maintenance – With the exception of a few honeycomb shades, which work best with lithium batteries, these motorized window treatments prefer to be powered with alkaline batteries, eliminating the need for specialized power sources. When batteries need to be changed, not even once a year on average, they are easily accessible in the AA battery wand.

PowerView is available on over 30 different lines of window treatments, but don’t let the selection overwhelm you.
